The Island
 Acts 28:1-2 says, “Once safely on shore, we found out that this island was called Malta. The islanders showed us unusual kindness. They welcomed us all because it was rainy and cold.” At The Island we try to provide a safe place for students to come to! The Island is a major part of the Student Ministry at First Baptist Church Elk City. The cool part is that it is not just for Students at FBCEC. It is for any and all students in the Elk City area. When we say area, we mean Cordell, Merritt, Canute, Leedey, Hammon, Cheyenne, Sayre, and any Home-schooled students in these areas.
The core activities are decided upon by our Student Leadership Team. The Word is taught by our Student Minister, Ryan Young, and our worship is led by our very own Praise Band.
So you see, if you miss a Wednesday night at the Island, you just don’t know what you are missing, literally. You will miss some awesome music, an awesome message, getting to witness one of your classmates eating something out of the ordinary, but the most amazing thing you may miss could be ONE OF YOUR FELLOW CLASSMATES SURRENDERING THEIR LIFE TO THE LORD. Come join us. We meet each Wednesday night in the Student Center at First Baptist Church, Elk City, Oklahoma, beginning at 6:30 pm and ending at 8:00 pm. |

The Student’s are divided into smaller groups. Each group consists of girls 7th through 12th grade or boys 7th through 12th grade. Our small group time is where we get to break down and discuss the message that has been brought to us by Ryan. Our small groups are themed. This year the groups are named after various beverages, e.g. Gatorade, Fiji Water, Yoli, Chocolate Milk. In the past we have been named after Super Heroes, Cereal, and Islands. Each year it is something different and the really cool part is that the Student Leadership gets to choose.
